Using NABSA’s New US Congressional Look-Up Tool
We’ve developed a tool that allows NABSA members to quickly identify all congressional representatives who serve municipalities with shared micromobility systems. This tool is designed to support your advocacy efforts by making it easier to engage with the right federal legislators.
Why This Matters
Bikeshare and scootershare systems often span multiple municipalities and congressional districts and even states. Knowing exactly which members of Congress represent your service area is critical for:
- Relationship Building: Introducing yourself and your system to lawmakers and their teams, ensuring they understand the service you proved to constituents, and the impact it has on their communities
- Federal funding advocacy: Reaching out to representatives about competitive grant programs (BUILD, CMAQ, STBG, Congressionally Directed Spending)
- Legislative priorities: Engaging on surface transportation reauthorization and shared micromobility priorities
- Policy education: Ensuring your elected officials understand the economic and transportation benefits of shared micromobility
What the Tool Does
This is an automated Google Sheets tool that:
- Identifies ALL representatives for municipalities that span multiple congressional districts
- Provides current contact information including names, party affiliations and contact information for the staffer who handles transportation related issues
- House and Senate members for comprehensive federal representation
- Includes which members sit on committees that have a larger impact on shared micromobility funding legislation and regulation
How to Access the Tool
The US Congressional Look-Up Tool is available exclusively to NABSA members in the Knowledge Share. Log in and go here to explore the tool and for guidance on how to use it.
