NABSA Convenes Members to Share This Year’s Updates and Discuss NABSA Board Service as the Annual Board of Directors Election Draws Near

On July 23rd, NABSA convened members for the 2024 NABSA Mid-Year Member Call + Member Networking event. NABSA’s Executive Director, Sam Herr, and NABSA Board President, Adriel Thornton, updated members on what NABSA has accomplished so far this year and what we are looking forward to. Additionally, Sam and Adriel provided information about board service and the upcoming nomination and election process. Members shared what they are looking forward to and exciting updates with other NABSA members. 

Check out these highlights from the event:

  • State of the Industry Report – The 5th Annual Shared Micromobility State of the Industry Report will be released on August 6th at a virtual launch event. Read more and register here. 
  • Advocacy – NABSA continues to advocate for shared micromobility and its benefits to communities. We recently completed our strategy for the US 2026 Surface Transportation Reauthorization cycle and continue to track bills. In Canada, the Permanent Public Transit Fund was just announced and we are diving in to understand what it means for shared micromobility and will continue to develop next steps for federal advocacy work in Canada.  
  • Diversity Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging – We are releasing and screening Diverse Voices in Shared Micromobility: A Video Series at the conference. This series will complement the Building a Better Shared Micromobility Industry: Best Practices for More Diverse and Inclusive Workplaces toolkit and Workforce Diversity Wednesdays blog series. We have updated our core values to include ‘belonging’ and are integrating it into the work that we do. 
  • Meddin Scholarship – The recipient of the 2024 Meddin Emerging Researcher Scholarship is PhD candidate in Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University, Shirley Li. 
  • 2024 Annual Conference – We look forward to seeing everyone at the Ride, Thrive, Belong: Building Community Through Shared Micromobility Conference taking place this fall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania October 7th through 9th. Register here!
