Member Spotlight: Pedal Movement

Based in Long Beach, California, Pedal Movement is on a mission to make micromobility and emissions-free transportation options accessible to everyone through thoughtful partnerships with communities, cities, and other organizations. Pedal Movement equips bicycle mechanics, fleet teams, and all of its employees with industry job training, benefits, and a livable wage. They believe that when more people use active transportation, communities prosper.

Pedal Movement recently launched a shared ebike pilot and off-grid mobility hub in collaboration with the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) that will enable hundreds of families to access a fleet of 20+ ebikes and cargo ebikes powered by solar battery charging. The program is funded by the California Air Resources Board Clean Mobility Options program and provides easy and affordable access to micromobility for residents of Rancho San Pedro, an historic public housing development owned by HACLA.

Pedal Movement also recently supported the launch of Long Beach Bike Share’s first income-sensitive program, Bike Share for All, which allows eligible residents and workers in the City of Long Beach to access the bikeshare program for only $5/year. Bike Share for All is a pilot program funded through the Long Beach Recovery Act.

When asked about the value of NABSA membership, they said that Pedal Movement has benefited immensely from its membership in NABSA over the years. From fostering important business relationships at conferences, to attending informative webinars, to utilizing published research, NABSA has been an important resource for their relatively young company. They value the dedicated NABSA team and board for their commitment to improving and advocating for the industry.
