Member Spotlight: Fresno Metro Black Chamber Foundation

Fresno Metro Black Chamber Foundation located in Fresno, California aims to engage, educate and empower Black businesses in the Central Valley. They envision an open, thriving market without social, economic or political barriers to the financial success of Black-owned businesses. They also see a Central Valley where sustainable Black-owned businesses thrive, quality jobs are created and millionaires are made.

Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce provides resources, grants, technical assistance, and various programs to support Black businesses and to help them flourish.

In the spring of 2022, the Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce brought e-bikes and electric vehicles to the area. Their Clean Shared Mobility Network now operates a fleet of 40 electric vehicles and 200 e-bikes, providing carsharing, vanpooling and bikesharing.

The Clean Shared Mobility Network was created to:

  • Help with the development of projects that achieve major environmental, health, and economic benefits in California’s most disadvantaged communities.
  • Provide low cost, reliable transportation systems that compliment public transit systems using electrically powered vehicles in historically underserved communities in Fresno.
  • Educate the community about the positive impacts of electric vehicles on Valley air quality, pollution and climate change.

They operate a program called Biz-Werx, where they aim to bring mobility options that complement Fresno’s public transportation infrastructure. Community is their priority, and they’ve spent four years tailoring the program to fit the community’s needs and educating them on the benefits of the all-electric fleet.

When asked about NABSA membership they said, “We value being a NABSA member because it allows us to learn from many amazing people who believe in the power of micromobility! We also believe in the importance of Black representation on a national level and hope to inspire others to empower, educate, and engage with their communities.”
