Member Spotlight – Bublr Bikes
Bublr Bikes is Greater Milwaukee’s nonprofit bikeshare program that delivers an accessible, convenient, integrated, and sustainable bikeshare system for all. They’re currently a pedal bike system, but they’re excited to be adding e-bikes to their fleet later this year!
Bublr recently hosted the graduation ceremony for the 2021 class of their B3 Workforce Development program. The program results from a partnership with DreamBikes, a nonprofit that places used bicycle stores in low-to-moderate income neighborhoods to provide paid job training to teens, the Boys & Girls Club, and the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). The program helps students become certified bikeshare mechanics while assisting participants in developing technical and soft skills. In addition, program graduates can apply to related trades programs at MATC and skip the entry waitlist. There have been over 50 graduates since the program launched in 2016.
In addition to the partnership above, Bublr is proud and thankful for its collaborations with the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) and the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works. This partnership was featured in a National Center for Applied Transit Technology video!
Finally, when asked about why they value being a NABSA member, Bublr stated that it’s good to have an international organization advocating for micromobility. Learn more about Bublr Bikes at www.bublrbikes.org.
