Member Spotlight: ROAM Share

ROAM Share is a 501c3 local nonprofit organization headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. They exist for the development, promotion and operation of bikesharing programs for the benefit of the general public, aimed at promoting health and quality of life as well as mitigating climate change and promoting the use of sustainable & equitable forms of transportation. Formed in 2011, ROAM Share operates bikeshare programs across Nebraska and Southwest Iowa — Heartland Bike Share in the Omaha, Nebraska Metro area, BikeLNK in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Valentine in Valentine, Nebraska. ROAM Share aims to operate bikeshare through a community-first lens, asking where and for whom is bikeshare transportation needed most in the communities they serve.

In April 2026, Heartland Bike Share launched Free Rides presented in partnership with Medica Health Plans. Free Rides provides FREE annual access memberships to residents 16 & over living in the Omaha Metro (which includes Papillion, Bellevue, La Vista, Ralston, and Council Bluffs IA). Since launch, Free Rides has seen over 6,000 applications from local residents, and bikeshare usage has seen daily, weekly, and monthly trip records set. Free Ride members have taken 15,000 trips within just two months of rides and traveled over 45,000 miles. Free Rides has changed how the Omaha Metro moves, and will help shape active mobility patterns in the community for years to come.

When asked about the value of NABSA membership, they said “In an industry driven by innovation, NABSA provides ROAM Share with numerous opportunities to learn from and collaborate with partners across multiple sectors to create effective micromobility solutions in our home communities. NABSA membership brings with it a wide spectrum of resources, including informative virtual events, knowledge share spotlights, and an expansive member directory that we can call on. Our membership positions our organization to advocate locally and nationally for resources that will support micromobility users from all backgrounds everywhere we operate.”
