Member Spotlight: Third Lane Mobility
Third Lane Mobility is a shared micromobility operator with thousands of vehicles deployed in hundreds of markets worldwide. Third Lane Mobility is the parent company of Bird and Spin. Their goal is to bring affordable, environmentally friendly transportation solutions such as e-scooters and e-bikes to communities around the world.
Third Lane Mobility is excited about a new partnership they launched at Curbivore with Honda and the Fastport team to introduce 4-wheeled, commercial electric cargo bikes—or quads as they’ve become known—to replace transit vans as their primary fleet management vehicle.
In talking about the recent partnership, John Lankford, Vice President, Partnership for Third Lane Mobility said, “In the same way that our industry started out with a focus on right-sizing vehicles for short urban trips away from cars and towards light electric vehicles like bikes and scooters, we are now doing the same thing with our commercial fleet. Ultimately, what we are most excited about is the fact that the economics favor quads over vans, which means it’s scalable within our industry but also more broadly. We can operate a quad for significantly less cost and achieve greater efficiency than a van, offering massive benefits: less pollution, less congestion, and safer streets. Expect an announcement in the coming weeks regarding the first markets where we’ll roll these out.”
When asked about the value of NABSA, Third Lane Mobility said they value the conference and the opportunity to connect with key city partners. Additionally they value how NABSA brings together operators and regulators to support a shared mission of making our cities healthier and happier places to live.
