Seeing Yourself in a Shared Micromobility Role
To complement NABSA’s Building a Better Shared Micromobility Industry: Best Practices for More Diverse and Inclusive Workplaces toolkit and strategy to increase diversity in the shared micromobility workforce at all levels we launched “Workforce Diversity Wednesdays”. This blog and social media series spotlights jobs in shared micromobility throughout the year. We post interviews with individuals in the shared micromobility industry highlighting their work and role with the hopes of encouraging more diversity and representation in the field.
Meet Richard (Ricky) Reed! Ricky (he/him) is the Director of Operations with POGOH, a small 501(c)3 non-profit, operated by Bike Share Pittsburgh Inc. POGOH’s mission is to provide Pittsburgh with a joyful, sustainable, and affordable mobility service for all residents and visitors. Learn about Ricky as he shares his journey to shared micromobility below:

How did you come to arrive at working in shared micromobility and your current role?
I began my journey at POGOH in 2020, in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I started as a Field Team Rebalancer, simply focused on paying my bills. At the time, I never imagined building a career within the organization or saw much of a future ahead. Fast forward two to three years, and I had grown into the role of Expansion Specialist. My perspective began to shift. I started to see real opportunity here, not just a job, but a potential career with PGH Bike Share. Now, in 2026, I will serve as the Director of Operations. Along the way, I’ve had the support of My family and friends and incredible organizations like NABSA and NACTO, and the staff here at POGOH who helped shape my understanding of the micro mobility world. For that guidance and support, I will always be grateful.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite part of my job is the people. From the communities we serve, to the colleagues I work alongside, to the professionals across the micro mobility industry, each person brings unique perspectives and styles that help move micromobility forward and make it better every day.
What has surprised you most about your job?
What surprised me most is how family-oriented this job feels. We may start out as strangers, but we come together with a shared purpose of serving our communities and supporting different forms of transportation. It’s hard work, but I truly love what I do.
