Member Spotlight: CycloChrome

Based in Montreal, CycloChrome is a social economy enterprise, combining service, training, and support to make cycling a genuine means of mobility and enjoyment. At the intersection of specialized mechanics and education, the organization serves both citizens and businesses, institutions, and fleet managers. Its goal is to provide reliable and accessible services while passing on practical skills and valuing every journey, from beginners to enthusiasts.

Their mission is to train, encourage, and support those who wish to build a professional path in the world of cycling, while offering mechanical services to individuals and organizations.

CycloChrome aims to stand out for their approach by being professional, inclusive, and forward-looking, where each service helps strengthen the connection between bicycles, people, and the community.

Highlights from 2024:

  • 1,670 hours of teaching – Continuing education (In Partnership with the du Centre de services scolaires de Montréal)
  • 5 cohorts – Trade Degree (In Partnership with the du Centre de services scolaires de Montréal)
  • Over 2,000 customers in their consumer division
  • 43,000 BIXI tune-ups to support more than 13 million trips per year
  • 284 people participated in training sessions.

This year, CycloChrome launched a new e-cargo and light electric vehicle (LEV) service focused on assembly and maintenance. As more businesses turn to last-mile delivery by bike and LEV, they are excited to help keep those fleets rolling with planned service that minimizes downtime. In addition to ad hoc fixes, they provide professional assembly, scheduled inspections, and repair capacity tailored to high-utilization delivery vehicles.

CycloChrome describes themselves as not just a repair workshop: but a comprehensive player in the cycling world, capable of combining expertise, learning, and human impact.

When asked about the value of NABSA membership they said that being a NABSA member means being at the forefront of exploring mobility options in metropolitan contexts. “It is about connecting with those who optimize movement and contribute to the dynamism and evolution of our cities.”

“NABSA membership provides the opportunity to understand the challenges our cities face, gain new perspectives, and contribute to thoughtful reflections on solutions like those CycloChrome offers. It also allows us to actively participate in discussions that make our cities more welcoming, human-centred, and responsive to community needs.

“We value being a member of NABSA as a space to stay connected to the wider bikeshare community and the ideas shaping its future. Being a member keeps us in touch with peers experimenting with new technologies, partnerships, and approaches, while giving us a platform to share our own innovations in maintenance, training, operations, and more. Through conferences, resources, and informal conversations, being a member of NABSA helps us benchmark our work, learn from others’ successes and challenges, and keep equity and sustainability at the heart of what we do. It is a community that reminds us we are part of a larger movement, driven by passionate people.”
