Supporting DEIB Work in Shared Micromobility
When we talk about DEIB — Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging – in the context of shared micromobility, we refer to a holistic approach that prioritizes varied experiences, fair opportunities, inclusive environments, and a sense of community.
NABSA has an ongoing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiative to support the workforce in achieving DEIB objectives and fostering an inclusive environment in the shared micromobility industry.
This year we:
- Compiled and published a new resource page on our website to support and guide DEIB efforts. Read more here!
- Created a survey to measure NABSA member organizations’ DEIB progress and guide how we can support their efforts.
- Created and executed a plan where DEIB Committee Members are empowered to share DEIB resources, tools, and opportunities.
- Hosted a plenary session at the annual conference focusing on promoting DEIB within shared micromobility with special guest, Charles T. Brown, founder and CEO of Equitable Cities and author of Arrested Mobility: Overcoming the Threat to Black Movement.
- Hosted and created the ‘We Move’ portrait project that celebrated the diversity of people and places represented at this year’s conference.
- Continued our Workforce Diversity Wednesday blog series, spotlighting the diversity of people and jobs in shared micromobility.
NABSA’s commitment to DEIB is embedded in our five core values. NABSA envisions an industry that celebrates and harnesses diversity in all forms and levels. We aim to cultivate a shared micromobility industry where diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) are the cornerstones of the sector’s success. We strive to create a workplace and industry representative of the communities we serve, welcoming all regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin, or disability status. We believe in creating an industry responsive to the needs of all communities and individuals it serves, promoting healthier and more sustainable environments.
