Member Spotlight: BKT bici pública

BKT bici pública designs, implements, and operates public bikeshare systems. The MiBici system was founded in 2014 and is subsidized by Jalisco, Mexico, and operated by BKT bici pública. The system is located in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, one of the main cities in Mexico. Recently, BKT received 479 bikes from their government, bringing the system to 2,952 bicycles and 274 stations.

With the onset of the pandemic, the system registered a significant reduction of trips, but are seeing trip numbers beginning to rise. Several preventive actions are in effect to ensure the health of users and their team. For example, all bikes are thoroughly disinfected in the workshop and cleaned at the stations daily.

As the system grows, BKT wanted to ensure that they’re providing the best product and service to their community. This led them to develop a partnership with Clinker. Clinker is a suite of digital tools for bikeshare operators and micromobility systems. It’s designed to help any network around the world to accomplish its goals improving the quality of the services for the users, taking advantage of the resources available, and saving money for operators.

When asked why they like about being a NABSA member, BKT said they are proud to be part of NABSA since it allows them to have active participation in shaping shared micromobility. They’re able to learn about the industry’s main topics and make international connections with leaders and experts in shared micromobility. They feel represented and supported by NABSA as operators and industry enthusiasts.

BKT is looking forward to being the host city for NABSA’s 2021 conference, marking the first time the conference will be held in Latin America. They are excited to be part of what’s sure to be an unforgettable experience. Additionally, BKT is preparing to release its updated image. This initiative arises from the need to improve and update internal and external communication and highlight its quality, products, and services.
