Webinar: Update on the Florida Dockless Bikesharing Bill

January 19, 12-1pm EST

On December 19, 2017, Florida State Senator Dana Young introduced SB 1304: Dockless Bicycle Sharing in the Florida Senate, and on December 18th, 2017, Representative Jackie Toledo introduced the same bill, HB 1103, into the Florida House.

The bill seeks to preempt local governmental power to make decisions about bikeshare issues, as well as cancel important provisions of contracts with multiple vendors and municipalities in Florida.  These issues include safety, equipment quality and life cycle, maintenance, rebalancing, customer service, fleet size, user data privacy, and other critical policies.  The bill undercuts the years of hard work, investment, and success that current bikeshare programs operating in the state of Florida have realized, as well as possibly subjects the public to unnecessary safety hazards.

Although currently in Florida, similar legislation may be introduced in other states.
