Why are you interested in being a NABSA Board Member?

I believe in the transformative power of shared micromobility, and its unique ability to help North America answer some of its biggest questions of the next decade: creating community cohesion, providing equitable access to opportunities, and building a sustainable future. When we do SMM right, we do more than connect–we thrive. I also believe the moment for SMM is right now, and our impact has never been greater within the communities we serve. NABSA and its member organizations have an immense opportunity to continue progress toward micromobility best practices, contribute to vital research, and advocate for policy that sustains our industry’s impact. To do this, it will take voices from across geographies, perspectives, and sectors. I’ve been incredibly proud to see the work NABSA has done over the last two years of my board service – our member organizations are creating a SMM industry built to serve communities of all sizes, demographics, and needs. I’ve enjoyed learning from members across North America, and my hope is to continue bringing a collaborative approach to the board, NABSA, and the SMM opportunities that lay ahead.

What skills and experience would make you a good NABSA Board Member?

Through my ongoing work with ROAM Share and recent term on the NABSA Board, I’ve learned firsthand the powerful value of collaboration in SMM. My experience has broadened my understanding of the unique challenges operators/providers/cities/consultants face to implement these vital transportation programs for constituents. At ROAM Share, I’ve been able to work creatively to foster meaningful partnerships with stakeholders both inside and outside traditional SMM allies. Nothing beats bringing new folks to the table and finding common ground on the impact we can make together. And the insights I learned on the ground as a program manager are still ones I carry with me, reminded of the rider stories made possible by the continued work of NABSA and its members. Most importantly, I’m excited to continue learning from member organizations about how they are creating impact across communities, and working across sectors to promote the possibilities that exist when we embrace SMM as a tool for good.
